Cabin, for me, started out from a childhood dream. When I was 10, my family dreamt of moving to a log cabin in the woods. I insisted that I could draw this for us, and so I sketched cabin after cabin and presented to my parents. As an adult, with a career in hair that kept me traveling the globe, I felt a need to build community and a home to do hair.
First launching Cabin 207 from a successful IndieGogo campaign, I set out with a few friends of mine to build the salon and bookstore in DTLA at the age of 25. Next was Cabin West, a pop up retail shop and salon on Rose Ave in Venice. The final stop was Abbot Kinney in Venice, one of the most famous retail streets in the world.
Cabin, the 2 chair private studio and retail shop housed myself and brow guru, Jimena Garcia where we brought our idea of beauty to life.
In 2019, I closed the shop on Abbot Kinney to focus on my freelance career.
To me, Cabin is an exploration of beauty, a social experiment on community, and a place where I could collaborate with my favorite artists in Los Angeles to design, build, and operate a dream environment for work.
While Cabin is no longer a physical space, the concept lives within me and those who experienced it.
The fluidity of the design and the brand will take shape through future projects that embody who I am and how I see the world.
